Sell on marketplaces in France. From your usual data maintenance.
France has many marketplaces of its own run by retailers, from electronics retailers to DIY stores. Here you can see which of them are on our channel list, what you need to consider as a merchant from Germany and how your items get there from your system.
Why France
In France, many large retailers run their own marketplace alongside their own range: electronics, department stores, fashion, DIY, home, culture. As early as 2020, according to Mirakl, all 15 most visited online shops in France were marketplaces. For merchants and manufacturers from Germany, this means there is not one channel but several suitable ones for each range.

What applies to merchants from Germany
- Item data in French: under the French law of 4 August 1994, French is mandatory for the designation, offer, presentation, instructions for use, warranty terms and invoices towards consumers. The consumer protection authority DGCCRF also checks this in online retail. You therefore need title, description and attributes in French.
- Customer service: your customers write to you in French. Plan for replies in the local language, including for returns and complaints. Cdiscount, for example, measures every seller's complaint rate.
- VAT: if you sell from Germany to private customers in other EU countries and your sales of this kind exceed 10,000 euros in a calendar year, the tax rate of the country in which the customer lives applies. Using the One-Stop-Shop procedure, you report these sales centrally to the Federal Central Tax Office (Bundeszentralamt für Steuern). Please clarify with your tax adviser what this means for your company.
- Approval per marketplace: each operator carries out its own checks. Cdiscount, for example, requires registration in the commercial register of your country, Castorama selects its sellers after its own review.

Many French marketplaces, one technology
According to Mirakl or the operator itself, Carrefour, Castorama, Leroy Merlin, LaRedoute, KIABI, Maisons du Monde, Cultura, Rue du Commerce, Galeries Lafayette as well as fnac, Darty and E.Leclerc use Mirakl technology (sources above). Once you have connected one of them properly, you connect the next ones on the same foundation. What is new is then mainly the operator's categories and mandatory information. More on Connect Mirakl marketplaces. Cdiscount, on the other hand, uses Octopia technology.
France and other channels from one data source
With X-Sitter MARKETS, the French marketplaces run on the same item data maintenance as Amazon, Otto, Kaufland and the other channels on the channel list, directly on your ERP, your inventory management or your shop. ManoMano, Mirakl and Octopia are among the channels by arrangement: we connect them after we have checked your seller account. On request, we take care of setup and operation: Have marketplaces connected.
